Ever. As I remember counting down to midnight, I made a vow to myself that this year was going to be the year of me or should I say... #yearofme. The concept and meaning behind this may seem ridiculous but to me, it was/is my life mantra. Every decision, every risk and every moment I wanted to create was based off this concept.

When we have moments of doubt, sadness or moments of what the &%*#, we have to be true to one thing and that is what we want. As I near another birthday, I truly have a greater appreciate for all that I have in my life and all that I want it to be. I made some very tough decisions this year but they have helped me grow as a person and shape my life to what it is now. It has helped me fuel my passions and my goals.

In life, we sometimes make decisions based on how others will feel or how it will impact them and put their feelings before our own. Being selfish for want you want can be the biggest challenge but also have the biggest rewards. This past year has recreated a desire for me to life the best life I can and surround myself with amazing and inspiring people who support my goals and challenge them.

Sometimes your life just needs a #hashtag to remind yourself what you really want. If you could choose one for your life, what would it be? If you are on Instagram or Facebook post a picture or an image of something that means the most to you and a hashtag with how it makes you feel as a reminder of what you want to feel in that moment. Tag me in it @nicolewilsonfitness and lets get some inspiration brewing!
are. It's expresso, milk and syrup, right?! I'm not telling you to stop drinking your favorite holiday beverage but I wanted to give you some ideas on how to switch up your regular drink to a healthier option to save your a few calories so you can have a piece of pumpkin pie.

I picked three drinks that I think are pretty popular options or ones I've been know to order and made a few switches over the years to cut down the calories and they still taste great. Here they are,

Chai Latte:
Before: Grande Soya Half Sweet Chai Latte: 210 Calories
After: Grande Chai Tea misto with Soya Milk: 120 Calories (Saving 90 Cals)

Pumpking Spice Latte
*A FYI to all those who are allergic to dairy - their pumpkin spice syrup has dairy in it so I don't have these at all anymore but heres the switch.

Before: Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte with Nonfat milk: 330 Calories
After: Grande Pumpkin Spice Americano Misto: 200 Calories (Saving 130 Calories)

and lasty, one of my personal favs

Vanilla Latte:
Before: Grande Vanilla Latte: 290 Calories
After: Grande Soya Vanilla Americano Misto: 80 Calories (Saving 210)

Hopefully you find these little switches helpful going into the holiday season. I love getting my Christmas in a red cup at Starbucks and now your can opt for a healthier option. Thanks to MyFitnessPal for all the nutritional information.
Happy Monday,

After two weeks away from reality and enjoying a relaxing vacation with my family which I loved, its time to get back to my routine. With my workouts booked, a clean apartment and a grocery shop under my belt the only thing left to do, #mpm. It's time to prep.

Food prep may seem daunting to some, but I swear if you give it a chance you will find your groove. Small changes will have a big impact on your eating and your wallet. As I was shopping around Whole Foods today gearing up for a little Meal Prep Monday, I was thinking of a few easy steps to encourage those of you who don't know where to start...

1. Shop around the outside of the store - yes this sounds clique but it's the truth. I wandered through the isles admiring the shelves upon shelves of processed foods. No, not all of them are bad for you but fresh is around the outside skirts of the store. This way you get your exercise doing laps as you hit produce, meat and other goodness. You could buy everything needed for a clean prep by only shopping the outside. I challenge you to try it.

2. Read the ingredients - if there are more things labelled than you can pronounce, put it back and step away from the item. It probably isn't good for your or made of real food. Food should spoil. If it doesn't, there are enough chemicals in there to keep it for months... #ew

3. Canned foods - okay so this contradicts no. 1 but sometimes canned veggies aren't bad. This goes for frozen veggies too. They are usually flash frozen at their freshest and still capture all those nutrients you are after. I use canned tomatoes in my tomato sauce (365 Organic Brand) and frozen Broccoli and Squash for dinners and stir-frys. It saves you time too!

4. Buy yourself a set of Tupperware. For years I eat out of Tupperware and baggies, it not only makes for a good IG photo and makes your fridge look like you have a professional prep your food every week but keeps healthy options at your finger tips.

5. Think about what your like to eat for snacks, brekkie, lunch and dinner and write it all down on a piece of paper. Put combinations together and from that make a grocery list and sub healthier options when you can. Think lettuce wraps instead of sandwiches or hummus and celery instead of chips. Small switches with big long term benefits.

I hope you can find some of these tips helpful!

After a few months of getting settled and a short hiatus, I am back and ready to blog. My job provides me with so many ways to be connected to the community and supports me living a healthy and happy life. I've been loving my Crossfit community at Raincity, spinning at Cadence, starting my GranFondo training and prepping food like a ninja.

When life gets super cray, I really understand the importance of maintaining a schedule and prepping food. A week without prepped food isn't going to be a good week. Yes, it's that important. Prepping food doesn't have to cost a lot or take a lot of time. My prep usually takes me between 2 - 3 hours and that means every thing is chopped, ziploc'd and ready to eat. I usually do enough food for my work days.

Today I hit Whole Foods for my meats, a few veggies and the rest I scooped from Kin's Market. Right now they have local fruits and veggies which is awesome. My carrots were so local they got dirt all over my kitchen floor and all I could do was smile. The total for my shop was $68.00 and that will make 5 brekkie's, 5 lunches and 5 dinners. You do the math. This sets me up for all my basic meals but sometimes I get extra hungry and will have a Vega shake or grab sushi at work. Just to be real. Time for me to get prepping and map out my workouts for the week!

Eat. Sweat. Smile. Repeat!
On Tuesday the gals from Park Royal invited me to a nooner yoga class as Distrikt Movement in North Van, a quick skip over the second narrows will get you there in less time than you think.

Distrikt Movement is definitely a movement and a community spot that combines classes with a focus on supporting youth initiatives as well. They have a variety of cool yoga and fitness classes. The one I'm excited to try is called Ugly Sweaters...if you want to come will me, let's go sweat!

In addition to the amazing heart and souls that run the studio and all the teachers leading the classes, the atmosphere and aesthetics of this studio is nothing short of a Pinterest board. Every corner of this studio is decked out an should really be in a magazine. It's beautiful and everything is well thought out and makes you feel special. My personal favourite was written on the bath room mirror. "Love yourself as much as Kayne loves Kayne."
I've somehow managed to avoid overeating but I'm sure there will be plenty of temptations over the next week. The Holiday's seem to revolve around eating. We could be out skating or doing activities and instead we sit around and eat. Then, eat some more. Maybe the fact that New Years is right around the corner gives us hope that the weight gained over Christmas will somehow become a priority. This is not the case. Just like last year and the year before.

People every year gain weight because they attend gathering after gathering and there is no control over what goes in and what gets burned off. The first three weeks of January are spent trying to burn off those calories but then it just becomes too hard and the weight stays on and Christmas comes and goes again. You see my point?!

Well here's the truth. My friend and I were talking the other day about calories and the one's that don't count. Remember to keep these in mind over the next few weeks and think about all the times you might have spoken the following.

Calories don't count when:

you're sick

you're going through a break up

you've just killed a workout at the gym

you're about to go to the gym

you're on vacation

you go out for dinner

you've had a bad day

you're sad

someone dies

you're depressed

you're pregnant (within reason - 1st and 2nd tri you need an extra 150 calories and in your 3rd you need an extra 300 per day!)

you've lost your job

you've just got a new job

you're celebrating a friends birthday

you're out with the boss (stand your ground)

you're tired

You get the point...we've all been there but I hate to break it to you. Calories always count! If your not counting, your butt is. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you don't start making healthier choices every meal, every day you will gain weight and resent all the food you didn't need to eat but eat because it was within an arms reach. I am saying all of this because I have been there and can relate not because I am pointing fingers. Everything in moderation.

It was late Friday night when I got an email from my old employer, Skechers, who said the other girl had gotten sick and they needed a replacement. I had never led a warm up but thought it couldn't be that different from teaching boot camp.

At first I was super nervous. What would people think? How would it work? Would people like me? All these thoughts that were roadblocks to a cool opportunity so I ignored the negative and agreed. I spent most of Saturday on Youtube watching "runners warm up" videos and I was starting to feel really good about this. I decided it was going to be a blast.

It was Sunday morning and I got all ready to head over to Stanley Park, cranked the tunes and went over my routine in my head. This was going to be awesome. I showed up and met with Alex from Skechers and he introduced me to the Race Director from the Try Events and the MC for the run. Everyone was super nice and the event had an amazing turn out.

Trying not to think about the amount of people, they gave me the run down and it was almost time.

I was handed a mic, yes, they gave me a microphone and I was introduced to the group of runners. The music started and the next thing I knew is I was leading my first runners warm up. I tried to get the crowd awake and warm and was loving every minute of it. I think it was an out of body experience. This was the first warm up I had ever done and I can already list off a million things I would have done differently but now I know for next time and I want to do more of these in the future.

A big Thanks to Skechers one of my brand sponsors and to Try Events for allowing me this opportunity and Congrats to all the runners.

Eat. Sweat. Smile. Repeat.
A friend had recommended them and after visiting a few other Crossfit Gyms I was open to giving it a go.

After downing my Vega pre-workout, I headed off to my class. Upon arrival, a group was wrapping up their WOD and man was it intense. I was breaking a sweat just watching this group. A mix of both men and women just destroying this workout.

I waited in the back with the other beginners making small talk and introducing myself. It was a good group and I was starting to get really excited. We were all in the same boat. The class finished and Simon aka. Thor, the co-founder and our Coach called us over and started introductions. This place offers much more than just Crossfit. They have worked hard to create a sense of community which was very apparent by the three dogs hanging out in the back and a small child patiently waiting for his mom. I loved it.

We went around the circle and did introductions, talked about Crossfit, did some dynamic stretching and talked about the WOD or Workout Of the Day we were doing. We were all partnered up and it was time to get started. 15 minutes later, I felt amazing! The workout was done and it was exhilarating.

If you are interested in trying Crossfit, I highly recommend that you check out Raincity Athletics. I can't wait to go back.

Have a great weekend!

The key is to never stop looking for it. For months I have felt down but put on a good face for everyone but realized that instead of making myself happy I was really trying to find my own happiness. When we go through difficult times we will try about anything to find that place where we are confident, can't stop smiling and wake up every day with a mission.

As some of you know that last few months have been a roller coaster. I moved back to Vancouver, started a job, moved, moved again, changed jobs, got engaged.....got unengaged and that's a lot to take in. That's also the first time I've really told anyone about being #unengaged. Most people are surprised how well I've taken everything and a lot of people don't find it normal how okay I am. I've had a lot of support but didn't think it was worth my energy to be sad about it everyday so I had a good cry, and said tomorrow I am going to get up and be in a good mood and I've done that every day since. My dad always said you are the only person who can wake up and decide if you are going to be in a good mood or a bad mood. So now that I've poured out my heart to you, you might better understand the slump I was in.

I can't really describe what came over me or how it happened, if it was time or the fact that I never gave up on myself. The last three months haven't been my best as far as workouts because I have been really "busy," or at least that's what I've been telling myself. Even saying I'm too busy to workout sounds ridiculous. Going to the gym and getting into my zone is what I do and for the longest time I'd lost that passion for something that made me feel so good. I would think about going and could envision how amazing I would feel after a good sweat sesh but physically I never made it.

Maybe one of the reasons, well two reasons I got my mojo back is one because I never gave up on myself and two because I had accepted that I was okay and that I was ready to get my life back. Last week I went to the library and took out 5 books by Jillian Michaels, my idol, and the first one I picked up was her book called Unlimited, How to Build and Exceptional Life. I've just started it but I feel like its talking, allowing me to respect that I needed time but now I need to get on with life and get back to the things that I'm passionate about.

For me having the gym and fitness as an outlet is one of the most important things in my life as I've found it's the best way to fight depression as I refuse to take medication. The gym is my medicine and when I get there and put my headphones on I am in a totally different world. It's my time and once I found fitness, I found my voice and my confidence. My home. It's one of the most rewarding things I can do for myself.

If you've ever felt lost, or unmotivated I can relate to you and tell you it's okay to feel that was as long as, yes there is an exception, you don't give up on yourself. Don't be too busy, or too tired, or too anything to put yourself first. Make time to get to the gym or whatever it is that you are passionate about because once you accept it, you will find what you are looking for.

Last night I didn't want to go to the gym, but I made a conscious decision and after much debate found myself sweating out 30 minutes on the stair climber with my 10lb ankle weights and then another 50 minutes of lifting. I was back. I am back. I have found my passion for sweat and lifting. It feels so good and I hope if you have been in a slump that you keep pushing to find that break through cause it's right around the corner. Its a long road but know that other people are on it too.

This was a very personal thing for me to share but I think it's important to know that others are out there going through the same thing. No one is perfect. I'm definitely not.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Eat. Sweat. Smile. Repeat and tell someone how awesome they are today.
If you plan on juicing, try their 3 day cleanse. I will definitely be doing this again in a few months.

The second night is when I really started to notice how good my body felt. I wasn't bloated, hungry or low on energy. I was suddenly really aware of how I felt internally and I felt lighter. The goal of cleansing was to clean out my system and reset my body and mission accomplished. Today when I woke up I didn't feel starving or any crazy cravings. I had a few juices left over so I enjoyed a nice juice and an apple.
After cleansing they recommend eating clean while your body adjusts to solid foods again. My plan for the next few days is eating lots of veggies and incorporating a Vega smoothie or two. As long as its unprocessed and clean its on the menu for me.

My whole experience with the Juice Box was great. They are very organized and deliver the juices to your door and don't put any rush on returning the bottles. You can schedule a pick up or you can drop them off at their warehouse in Vancouver. The bottles you return and the lids you recycle. I'm sad to see the pile of lids in my kitchen!

As for my favorite juice, the verdict is in. I love Heartbeet! It was the 6th juice of the day and as much as I enjoyed all the juices, this one won me over. My second favorite was the Carrot Orange Ginger which is the second juice of the day. All the juices are good and I didn't dislike any of them. Number 5 is pretty earthy which suits it's name, Dark Green, but it's still good.
A big Thanks to Jody and Willow, the husband and wife team, who bring these amazing juices to people everyday! They are passionate about what they do and are really great people who checked in on me throughout the experience to see how I was doing.
It's amazing how clean my system feels and I think my skin is even looking a little clearer.

The hardest part of the day was getting in my car2go at the end of the day which smelt like someone had stashed fast food burgers under the seat. I felt like I was driving inside of a McDonald's french fry container. Even with the smell, I wasn't craving anything except my Heartbeet juice!

The juicing has been easy because I haven't had any social commitments this week which is where going out for dinner wouldn't necessarily be so feasible. I've also been sick this week but I actually think the juices have probably helped because they are really nutrient dense. But because I've been sick, I also haven't been working out because I've been trying to rest which for me is a test to sitting still. Something I don't do well...

Tomorrow is the last last day of my cleanse and I am starting to prepare some food ideas for my post cleanse day on Friday. They recommend having some fruit for breakfast, a salad for lunch and some veggies for dinner. To me that sounds manageable. I might even whip some soup up in my Vitamix. A carrot ginger soup perhaps.

A typical juice cleanse is 3 - 5 days so don't ask my why I picked 4 days. I think when I had originally signed up I thought I wouldn't get my juices until Monday. So my plan was to do the juices Tuesday to Friday. That was my bad. I do still have a few juices left so I will incorporate those into my day on Friday and then call to organize a pick up of all my cute little juice bottles.

I can't wait to complete my last day tomorrow but the experience so far has been really good!

Eat. Juice. Smile. Sleep.
I haven't been hungry, felt low on energy or hangry at all! I have been fighting a cold but after visiting the walkin my doc said I was a-okay to continue. I will admit that I miss my morning coffee but that's about it in the craving departments.

On the first day I only managed to get through 4 of the juices but yesterday I managed to get through all of them. I was also pushing to make it to the last one of the day because it contain beets and I LOVE beets. Heartbeet it's called! How cute!

It's hard to believe that I have already completed two days of juicing! I think the reason it feels effortless is because someone else is doing the juicing. I really love juicing as much as the next person but the thing I hate is cleaning the juicer and I couldn't image prepping all these juices solo and cleaning out my juicer after each. Don't judge me for sounding lazy here because I know others that have juicers collecting dust for the same reason.

Last night I got my second delivery of juice from Williow, Jody's wife who is super bubbly and sweet. She picked up my other bottles to take back and said I could schedule a pick up for the remainder of the bottles whenever. The thing I like most besides the juices is the customer service The Juice Box offers. A husband and wife team that are passionate about juicing and the products that they use. I wasn't sure all the in's and out's of how the delivery and pick up worked, or what to do with the bottles or how I would feel and they took the time to explain everything.

Now that I have tried all the juices, I can say the Deep Green (5) is the earthiest one of all but is still easy to drink. My personal favorite is Carrot Orange Ginger (2) even after trying Heartbeet. The Carrot one takes the icing. Two days down and two to go!

Feeling really good and can't wait to see how I feel on Friday!

Cheers,

I haven't felt hungry and really love all the juices.

So how does it all work? Well, the night before your cleanse starts your juices get delivered. Since i started my cleanse Monday,, Jody came by on Sunday night to deliver two days worth of juices. He gave me the run down on how I would feel and to not do any intense exercise. He was very knowledgable and I could tell passionate about what he does..

When I got my delivery I couldn't help but think how cute the little glass bottles are! I totally want to keep them but with each bottle you get a $2.00 deposit back. The juices are colorful and carefully labelled with what juice is it, number 1,2,3....and what's in each bottle. I am definitely going to miss how colourful my fridge looks.

My first juice was an Orange and Cucumber juice which I found refreshing and took my time sipping on it. I felt good like this will be easy. In fact, I only made it through 4 out of 6 juices!

I will admit that by about 1pm, I found myself searching food recipes for my healthy, post cleanse weekend. I also found myself on the support page on the Juice Box website. After thinking how nice a decaf coffee would be I find myself reading, "Do not drink coffee during your cleanse." Darn. Well I guess some nice herbal tea will do the warming trick.

By dinner time I had finished my fourth juice and I was ready for bed. I have to say that it have loved the juices so far and how good I feel. I can't wait for the rest of the week!

Cheers! Day one down.
New workouts, paint colors and shoes. You get the idea. Well the latest and craziest thing on my list is the Juice Box. A friend of mine completed a 3 day juice cleanse where you consume 6 raw and organic juices each day. Putting hanger aside, it intrigued me. As she was listing off all the reasons why she did it and how great she felt I got the idea stuck in my head. The idea was stuck and today I found myself clicking "complete order" on the Juice Box website.

Next Monday my juices will arrive and I'm anxious to give it a whirl. Needless to say if you ask me to go out next week I will likely have a juice or two in tow. Don't judge. You should know but now that I'm always up to try something new. Remember the bagged chicken?

I spent time last night researching the different companies like The The Juice Box, The People's Juicery and The Juice Truck and after much deliberation The Juice Box won me over. Maybe it was the cute glass bottles the juice comes in and how they come pick them up at the end of the cleanse. Okay, now you can judge me. This juice cleanse was something I've wanted to do for a while but I was definitely inspired and can't wait to track my journey next week. Monday's post I'm expecting to be a lot different than Thursdays....yes. I am doing it for 4 whole days....In addition to this, I will be cutting out caffeine and sticking with caffeine free teas. Needless to say I will be getting my fix of the Food Network next week.

Now my goal here is not weight loss but to recharge and cleanse my body. After Thanksgiving and a bunch of changes in my life over the last few months I think my body needs the reset. After the cleanse I am going to stick to a very clean diet. I am not spending a bunch of $$ on this cleanse to go have a hamburger. Well maybe one from Vega's Thrive Kitchen

Stay tuned!
Eat. Sweat. Smile. Repeat! And don't forget to YOLO it up!
Yes, it's been awhile since I've written and it's because I felt I didn't have anything "important" to write about but there are lots of cool things I've been doing and I was inspired to write!

The reason I started this blog was to write about my experiences competing and I had a lot of amazing feedback and always had something to write about. When I decided not to compete, I drew a big BLANK! What should I write about? Should I try a new type of workout or a meal plan to spark some inspiration? The truth is I am passionate about writing and that is what I'm back to do.

The summer is coming to an end and it's been pretty awesome. One thing I've wanted to do all summer I checked off my list yesterday was SUP'ing. For those of you that don't know SUP'ing stands for Standup Paddle Boarding! Auh-mazing! I highly recommend it. Its a great core/upper body/lower body workout. I've also started going to Kondi Callanetics. A high intensity interval/ TRX training/Callanetics workout. You've got to check it out, Kondi Callanetics.

I should also add that I am doing a bike race in 2 weeks! My sister and I are going to do the Tour De Victoria which is 140 km's. I am super excited and got up at 5:20 this morning to get a long ride in before work. For the first 45 minutes I was riding in the dark and it felt like the middle of the night. It definitely did not feel like a summers morning. My bike has some issues right now so I am getting Velofix to come visit me on Thursday to get a full tune up. It needs some serious TLC!

My goal for the next few weeks is to get in 3 long rides, 3 Kondi classes and 2 gym sessions to prepare myself for this. I'm also going to make more of an effort to write because I love writing! Here is to an awesome week!

Eat. Smile. Sweat. Repeat!

Nicole Nicole Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11282744448414287070noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8274567979678162232.post-19199145566155718362013-08-05T21:28:00.000-07:002013-08-06T09:17:57.876-07:00#21daychallengeAfter sweating in the kitchen for a few hours to get everything ready for #mpm (mealprepmonday) I feel excited to start my #21daychallenge. On a hot sunny day in Vancouver being outside would seem like the smart decision but eating clean and trying new activities is also important to me.

Brett and I had a busy weekend and after arriving at the gym last night to only find it was closed we were up early to hit Steve Nash Granville for an awesome sweat sesh. It was his first time at that gym and I am pretty sure it could make a gym rat out of anyone. It's got everything! I was in heaven.

After our workout we hit the grocery store to get some clean eats for the week. Brett is making chili as we speak and the house smells amazing! Fail to prepare, prepare to fail is a very motivating mantra. We've both got our meals planned and I've got my workouts planned for the week.

I've decided to do a bike race in Victoria at the end of September with my sister. It is a 100 km race around Victoria which I think is going to be pretty awesome. I've been spending more and more time on my bike and I remember why I love it so much. Its freeing to be out on the road and being in control of how hard you push yourself. To get ready for this, I've decided to change up my meals a little and get back to clean eating. So here goes nothing for my #21daychallenge where I plan on eating clean, drinking lots of water, trying some new workouts including Crossfit and riding a few times a week.

Follow my journey here and photos #21daychallenge. Can't wait to share this with all the ladies who have been inspiring me. Big shout outs to Jodi, Shannon, Jordan, Scarlet and so many more that live near and far for being so inspiring and pushing me to prep even though live can be busy. You ladies are killing it!

Happy Monday Fit Fam.

The alarm blares, I'm half asleep and it's barley bright outside. The thought of getting out of my warm bed to workout is not the first thing that crosses my mind. Going back to sleep does. Then my second alarm goes and the note to myself is - now, you will regret it later.

I'm up and moving. All my clothes are laid out, my gear is ready and I'm off to the gym, or out to ride. I love starting my mornings...I love once I'm in the middle how great I feel.

Today I went for a really early ride, saw the sun rise and appreciate that I am able to live in such a beautiful city and have the freedom to train when I want. The small things matter and I feel so refreshed when my ride or workout is done and I'm shiny with sweat.

For me, working out is my outlet and my time to think and reflect. It's what helps fuel my life and gives me purpose. Everyone asks how I manage to get up so early to workout and I never know how to respond. I don't think I'm special or deserve any recognition for being a crazy early bird. I know others who are more dedicated than me but finding that passion that means the most to you is what matters. What fuels you?

A book I find myself constantly referring to is, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. I highly recommend it. In the book he talks about will power and the importance of forming habits. I was trying to find a quote but there are too many to choose from! I will end with one,

"Small victories create the momentum that excited you to take larger steps along the path to your higher self."

My morning workouts are just little bits of excitement that help me get closer to living an even happier and healthier life. Work on finding yours.

Happy Hump Day Everyone....and I will leave you with something profound my friend, Jaime said to me the other day, Eat, Sweat, Smile, Repeat!

For me this one doesn't apply but it actually makes me wish I could tolerate dairy. If I could, I would eat Dry Curds everyday. What are dry curds you may ask???

Well dry curds live in it's trendy cousin's shadow, cottage cheese. Have you ever read the nutritional information on cottage cheese and dry curds? I was shocked! I never would have discovered them if I hadn't been looking for way to increase Brett's protein for his meal plan. Here's the breakdown:

Summer has arrived and with it comes short shorts, tank tops and the b-word. Bikinis. We are all nervous to start peeling off our winter layers but with a few simple tips we will be on track in no time. Here are three simple fit tips for rocking a cut off and feeling confident this summer.

First, make a plan to still hit the gym. With weekend get aways, sangria and late nights calling your name, it's important to keep your commitment to the staying in shape. Get up earlier and enjoy the run rise as you jog along the seawall. We do live in the most beautiful city where you can do the Grouse Grind or yoga in the park. Just make sure you schedule in time to sweat and get your heart rate up.

Another great thing about summer is the fruit but naturally it has a lot of sugar. I love pineapple, watermelon and all those delicious tropical fruits as much as the next person but eating them in moderation is important. Try having 1 to 2 servings a day or enjoy as and after dinner treat. I personally love adding fruit in with my Vega smoothies because I know I am getting all the nutrients my body needs which helps keep my energy levels up on those long summer nights.

The most important tip I can give you is to make fitness fun. Nobody said you had to be locked up inside to stay in shape. Grab a few girlfriends and try a boot camp or plan your own workouts and do them as a group. This will help you stay motivated with your fitness regime and catch rays at the same time.

Now that your armed with some new tips, think of today as your fresh start. No more, i'll start tomorrow's. Start today but printing off a calendar and committing to working out 2 to 3 times a week and eating clean Monday to Friday and allowing yourself 2 treat meals on the weekend.

I strongly believe that life is all about moderation and that if you are organized and prepared you will be able to reach your goals of looking great in your itsy-bitsy. Fitness should be fun and something you do year round, not just part-time. That's all for now but maybe I'll pass you on the seawall or see you at a boot camp. Yours in health and fitness,

Working at Vega is a great place to try new things because everyone is always working towards the next marathon or fitness event or health cleanse. Needless to say, it's contagious working among such a group of like minded and focused individuals. People are constantly setting new goals but they don't necessarily have to be fitness related but can be about trying something new.

This month there is a lot going on here at Head Office, as there always is. People are training for Tough Mudder, others just finished the BMO marathon, others are doing juice cleanses and the sales team is hosting a squat and push-up challenge! So far it's been a blast and very motivating because we all keep each other going. Everyone has the calendar at their desk and it's pretty cool to see everyone working together! Very motivating.

At home, Brett has started to embrace a healthier lifestyle and is taking it to the next level. It's great that we are both on the same page and we've decided to do two days a week with no meat products. He is even planning on cutting out dairy! It's all in an effort to motivate one another and to live a healthier life. I am very excited and look forward to finding great vegetarian recipes to try. Once commercial that will really get you thinking is Make Health Last by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

I've also come to the tough decision that I will no longer be competing in the fitness industry and will be focusing on training others and my own training. By nature, I am a very competitive person and after A LOT of conversations, I have decided to take a permanent break so I can focus on other things. I have loved meeting all the people I've met and look forward to support my friends with their journey's going forward.

May and June are going to be busy but it's important to find the time to workout and with the weather, it's hard not to want to get outside. Lately I've been getting up at 5 am because our apartment gets so hot that I'd rather be in the gym anyways. The best part about getting up and to the gym is that I have it all to myself for the first 45 minutes! I am sure going to miss it when we move June 1st but I will still find a way to train.

Have a great week everyone and follow your dreams and set goals. Boot Camp is going to be in Vancouver this Saturday at 10:30. Location to be announced! Email me if you are interested, nicolewilsonfitness@gmail.com
Cyclone Cup - Product Review

I am doing my first ever Product Review and I have to give it 5 stars. I've been using my Cyclone Cup for a few weeks now and I am uh-bsessed with it.

There are so many great things to mention that I'm going to list them rapid fire:

Never spills
Room to store protein
Fits in a cup holder
Measurements
No shaker ball
No BPA
Dishwasher safe
Lightweight
Mixes reall well
Lid Grip

Basically, it's the best shaker cup I've used. I am always going somewhere and that is why I love that the bottom screws off and you can store 1 scoop of protein. This way you can mix it whenever you want! I also love that I can throw it in my purse and don't have to worry about it spilling because the flip lid always seals tight and the lid had a grib on it so its easy to open.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when containers don't fit in my cup hold and this one does! It also fits in all the machines at the gym. I checked.

When I'm being super lazy, I don't need to worry about hand washing it because it's dishwasher safe and I can throw it in. The cyclone centre comes out and it mixes the product really well. #noclumps

I like that I can measure out how much water or almond milk I am mixing with my Vega protein or Vega pre/post workout and it's light weight!

If you need a new shaker cup, I highly recommend Cyclone Cup - The Best Shaker Cup Ever! Did I mention they come in sweet colors!?
